The September Chapter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The Board of Directors will meet at 5:00 pm; all ASA members are welcome. The general meeting starts at 6:30. The guest speaker will be ASA Philadelphia Chapter member David R. Aglira, ASA. Mr. Aglira, who is ASA designated in both Real Property (Urban) and MTS (Machinery & Equipment), is a Managing Director in KPMG’s Economic and Valuation Services practice. He will talk about “Audit Reviews of Appraisals for Financial Reporting.”
Mr. Aglira took his B.S. at James Madison University and is enrolled at Villanova for an M.B.A. in 2014. David specializes in valuations for the pharmaceutical, telecommunications, gaming, retail, and heavy manufacturing industries. He has performed valuations related to mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, corporate restructuring, income tax and tax planning for large and middle market multinational clients across a range of industries.
Mr. Aglira will outline some of the issues and misconceptions surrounding audit reviews associated with appraisals performed for financial reporting purposes. He will discuss best practices for these appraisals and the accounting regulations that can trigger questions about them.
