January Breakfast Meeting: Johnnie White on ASA’s Challenges & Opportunities

The January Breakfast Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 8:00 am at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The guest speaker will be Johnnie White, CEO of the American Society of Appraisers. Mr. White will discuss the “Challenges and Opportunities” facing the organization in the coming years.

Johnnie White ASA CEOJohnnie White joined the ASA in April 2019, bringing with him over 15 years experience as a nonprofit executive. A graduate of the University of Maryland University College, where he earned both a B.S. and an M.B.A., he was most recently Senior Director of the American Academy of Otolaryngology. Mr. White has received numerous awards and recognitions for his association work.and was named one of the top 40 Trending Association Innovators by DCA Live in 2017. He is also an Adjunct Professor at both the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies and the Northern Virginia Community College.

January Breakfast Meeting: Appraiser Fraud & ASA News

The January Breakfast Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 8:00 am at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The guest speaker will be Gary Snowdon, ASA. Mr. Snowdon is the new Region 1 Governor and Principal Appraiser at the Albany, NY firm of Snowdon Valuation. He will talk about “Appraiser Fraud” and also about “Recent ASA Activities.”

garysnowdonGary Snowdon, who received his B.A. in Education from William Paterson University and earned a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from Rockefeller College, SUNY Albany, has over 20 years experience appraising commercial and industrial real estate.  He specializes in complex commercial, industrial, and vacant land appraisals in the Hudson Valley, Capital, Saratoga, and Adirondack regions for finance, litigation support, estates, eminent domain, conservation, and other purposes.

Mr. Snowdon has served as an Appraisal Consultant to the NYS Department of Transportation and as a Regional Advisor to the NYS Secretary of State.  A NYS Certified Appraisal Instructor, he has developed and taught courses and seminars for ASA, the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers and the Appraisal Institute. He currently serves on the ASA Real Property Committee (Education Chair), and the NAIFA Education Committee. He has also contributed to books and journals on real estate topics and writes The Snowdon Report.

Jim HirtJim Hurt joined the ASA in March 2012, bringing with him over 17 years experience as a nonprofit executive. A graduate of California State University-Fullerton with an M.A. in Business Administration from National University, he had previously served as as Executive Director for the American Association of Poison Control Centers and the American Poison Control Center Foundation. At these organizations, and others before them, he focused on education programming, branding, communications, strategic planning, and certification and accreditation programs. Conditioned by Jim’s extensive experience in association management, international relations, and public-private partnerships, his talk about ASA’s current outlook is sure to be enlightening.

March Meeting: ASA Leadership Challenges

The March Chapter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The Board of Directors will meet at 5:00 pm; all ASA members are welcome. The general meeting starts at 6:30. The guest speakers will be ASA International Vice President, J. Mark Penny, ASA, Region 1 Governor Susan M. Golashovsky, ASA and Real Property Committee Chair Samuel F. Luceno, FASA, who will talk about their “ASA Leadership Duties & Responsibilities.”

PennyGolashovskyLucenoMr. Penny (top left) is a Business Valuation appraiser who is a Partner and Managing Director of Hempstead & Co., the Haddonfield, NJ financial consulting firm.  A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in economics, he holds an MBA from Temple University.  Mr. Penny has qualified as an expert witness in several states and has lectured on business valuation for employee ownership and estate planning groups.

Ms. Golashovsky is a Personal Property appraiser and the Principal of the Doylestown, PA firm of Susan Golashovsky, ASA.  A graduate of Temple University, she holds a Winterthur Museum certificate in "Decorative Arts in Early America," and is ASA-accredited in General Residential Contents, Antiques & Decorative Arts, Antique Furniture and American Folk Art. Ms. Golashovsky is a frequent lecturer on Land Course Preparation at seminars and symposia and for adult education courses.

Mr. Luceno is a Fellow of the American Society of Appraisers and holds dual accreditation in Real Property, Urban and  Machinery & Technical Specialties, Machinery & Equipment. A Certified General Appraiser and a Real Estate Broker in Pennsylvania, he holds an M.S. degree in the valuation sciences and is the Principal of the Hazelton, Pa firm of Luceno Valuation Services. A course developer and instructor on valuation topics, he has also served as a litigation consultant and expert witness.

The speakers are experienced appraisers who have all served ASA in a variety of Chapter, Regional and International capacities.  Their multi-disciplinary insights on the duties and responsibilities of leadership should prove both interesting and informative.  Please register early for this educational and productive evening which qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit.
