Membership is open to all people, regardless of race, creed, sex, religion, or national origin.

Student Affiliate Membership

Full or part-time Students at a college or university who are pursuing a career in valuation sciences should apply for membership as a Student Affiliate.

Candidate Membership

Candidate membership is designed for those undertaking the educational and experience requirements to become an Accredited Member (AM) or Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA).

Membership Requirements

Candidates and Affiliates must be of legal age, interested in the activities and objectives of the society, and of good character. They shall have established financial responsibility and residence and business experience in the community. Members are required to abide by the current versions of the Code of Ethics (PDF) of the society, as well as by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) published by The Appraisal Foundation. ASA dues and fees vary according to the category of membership.

In recent years, the ASA has created new membership types for friends, professionals and service providers that wish to broaden their networks and benefit from the programs, services and activities offered to ASA members. Learn more here.

ASA members must qualify for mandatory recertification every five years, and, as required by The Appraisal Foundation, complete USPAP coursework within each five-year cycle.
