15-Hr. Personal Property USPAP Course

The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers will sponsor a 15-hour, 3-day, Personal Property USPAP Course on consecutive Thursdays, September 11, September 25, and October 2, 2014 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm each day.  The course will be held in the offices of DeLage Landen Financial Services, 1111 Old Eagle School Road, Wayne, PA  19087 (Phone: 610-386-5000; map). The instructor will be Robert J. Luciani, ASA.

USPAP2014 2015This 15-Hour USPAP Course presents an overview of the USPAP 2014-2015 regulations and guidelines, and fulfills the requirements of appraisal societies for designation, and for USPAP continuing education. The course focuses on the USPAP requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance. The course material emphasizes the role of the appraiser, and includes discussion examples relating USPAP to everyday practice.

Seating is limited, so please register early for the course, which meets the USPAP requirements for re-accreditation and continuing education for most ASA appraisers. The cost of the 3-day course is $265 per person and includes all course materials

Free Seminar on USPAP 2014-15 Changes

USPAP2014 2015The Philadelphia ASA Chapter will offer a free seminar — USPAP 2014-15 Changes Effective January 1, 2014 — on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The seminar will be conducted by Chapter President Robert J. Luciani, ASA, an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor.

The seminar will summarize USPAP changes and revisions that went into effect January 1, 2014 and which impact every practicing appraiser. It qualifies for 1.5 hours of Continuing Education Credit (CEC) for ASA members.

The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers will sponsor a 15-hour, 2-day, all-discipline USPAP 2012-2013 Course on Friday, June 21, 2013 and Saturday, June 22 from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm each day.  The course will be held at the Marriott SpringHill Suites, 430 Plymouth Rd, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 (Phone: 610-940-0400), which offers discounted rates for ASA members and those taking the USPAP class. USPAP2012 2013This 15-Hour USPAP Course presents an overview of the USPAP 2012-2013 regulations and guidelines, and fulfills the requirements of appraisal societies for designation, and for USPAP continuing education. 

The cost of the 2-day course is $275 per person and includes a Continental breakfast and afternoon snack each day, and a copy of the 2012-2013 USPAP Book, a $75 value.

4-Hr. Class: Adjusting Comparable Sales For Seller Concessions

The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers will sponsor a four-hour Pennsylvania Appraisers/Assessors Class on Adjusting Comparable Sales for Seller Concessions on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 9:00 am-2:00 pm at The Willow Inn, 210 North York Rd, Willow Grove, PA 19090 (Telephone: 215-659-9980). The instructor will be Robert J. Luciani, ASA.

The class covers the content of the Appraisal Foundation’s APB Valuation Advisory #2: “Adjusting Comparable Sales 4hrclasscomparablesFor Seller Concessions.”  The Advisory provides guidance on generally accepted methods and techniques of seller concession. The course will define sales concessions and financing concessions, explain how to verify concessions and when to adjust for them, review the methodology for calculating concessions, discuss concessions for non-residential comparables and how to deal with them when using the Cost Approach or the Income Approach.

The Pennsylvania State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers requires biennial recertification for State Licensed Appraisers and Assessors, with all certificates expiring on June 30 of odd-numbered years (6/30/13). Please register early for this mandatory class which qualifies for four hours of Continuing Education Credit for Pennsylvania Licensed Appraisers and Assessors.
