Jim Hurt joined the ASA in March 2012, bringing with him over 17 years experience as a nonprofit executive. A graduate of California State University-Fullerton with an M.A. in Business Administration from National University, he had previously served as as Executive Director for the American Association of Poison Control Centers and the American Poison Control Center Foundation. At these organizations, and others before them, he focused on education programming, branding, communications, strategic planning, and certification and accreditation programs. Conditioned by Jim’s extensive experience in association management, international relations, and public-private partnerships, his talk about ASA’s current outlook is sure to be enlightening.

He has performed valuations related to mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, corporate restructuring, income tax and tax planning for large and middle market multinational clients across a range of industries.

Michael Piper will revisit "Assessment Issues and Property Taxes" in light of the recent citywide reassessment in Philadelphia. Mr. Piper, who earned his MBA at Temple University, is a member of the
Real Estate Appraisers Certification Act and the Assessors Certification Law, and the Regulations of the Pennsylvania State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers. It emphasizes changes to the laws made during the past two years, and offers a refresher on the provisions most relevant to everyday practice.
